Hi,
My aim is to connect 4 TTL level S/PDIF inputs directly to the board and use a simple 4 way switch to select inputs by grounding/powering the pins B0 and B1 on EXT_I/O.
I'm a bit confused with how i need to join the DAC inputs in a stereo configuration and where on DIN i attach the signal wires from the co-ax connectors and TOSLINK module.
As i understand it...
The table at the foot of p35 of the Integration Guide states that for 6 bit, true differential quantizer setting i need to joint inputs 1,3,5 and 7 to one another and inputs 2,4,6 and 8 to one another too.
i.e. in two groups of four:
Left Inputs D1-D3-D5-D7 Right Inputs D2-D4-D6-D8
By switching Input Mapping ON (as detailed on p37 of the guide) the following inputs are 'joined' internally:
Left Inputs D1-D3 D5-D7 Right Inputs D2-D4 D6-D8
(four groups of two)
My questions are:
1) To achieve the two groups of four called for on p35, am i correct in thinking that after switching Input mapping ON i also need to physically attach jumper wires between D3-D5 and D4-D6 pads on DIN?
2) If that is correct, a potential problem arises; because of the jumper wires the only 'spare' pads on DIN with no wires connected are D1, D2, D7 and D8, but i can only select inputs at D1, D2, D2 or D4 by toggling B0 and B1 on EXT_I/O as planned. How do i get round this, is it as simple as attaching the the leg of the jumpers at D3 and D4 and the input to the same pad?
Thanks for any help, Tom

I would suggest reading page 20 first.

Hi Leon, thanks for the reply. From p20 i understand i can use JDSD1 and JDSD2 to join D2-D6 and D1-D5 respectively. Installing these jumpers and using input mapping gives me: Left Inputs D3-D1 - D5-D7 Right Inputs D4-D2 - D6-D8 I think thats correct any further advice appreciated, Tom

I was pointing to page 20 as that handles the TTL level S/PDIF jumper configuration, as that is what you are feeding the DAC board:
"If you want to use all inputs, remove the following jumpers if they are present: • JPCM1 (JPCM1, 3) • JPCM2 (JPCM2, 1) • JPCM3 (JPCM3, 2) • JDSD1 (JDSD1, 5) • JDSD2 (JDSD2, 4) "
So you should NOT combine inputs. For a stereo S/PDIF setup you just combine the OUTPUTS. This is also mentioned on page 22. Please stick to the default configuration, and (like in this case) if you're not sure what to do: ask what to do on the forum.
