this is a really strange one.
I managed to get my Buffalo III DAC to operate at the lowest PLL setting, without any problems, by adding Mumetal EMI shielding onto the case around the DAC and directly on top of the DAC. Before I did this I could not get the DAC to work properly on the lowest PLL setting.
Its connected by 2" of twisted I2s cabling fed directly from a Squeezebox Duet. everything is powered by Paul Hynes regulators and I have replaced the Squeezebox master clock with a 11.286Mhz D Clock.
for some reason the Buffalo has stopped locking onto the signal and now plays with a break in the music every 30 seconds or so.
I dont know what could be causing this...
any ideas, or pointers that I could look into would be much appreciated.
Brad

Don't twist i2s wires, they can interfere with each other I tried on a dac long time ago.
May help

cheers Pagwan,
I always thought that the i2S wires were best lightly twisted together with a ground shield wire. I can try this out.
what do other people do with their i2S wires?

I2S lines will definitely interfere with each other, and shoudl definitely not be twisted together. Keep them apart from one another, and away from any power supply lines.

Cheers Brian,
the individual I2s lines are not twisted together. They are individually twisted with a ground wire that connects from the Squeezebox Chassis to the DAC.
any idea that might have changed to cause my PLL lock threshold to increase?
