I received my REV C Layout Version 1.2 boards last week and noticed the note for R2. "R2 value is better lower < 12K." The resistor supplied is the original value of 33K. I can't recall any discussion in the DIY audio forum about the effects of changing values of R2.(Yes, I read all 2000+ replies) What "is better" with a lower value of R2? What is the suggested range for R2?

33K will work just fine, but the amp does indeed measure better with a lower value there.

I use 4.7K there, but many use 10K.

Here is a link to a note by Nelson Pass on the effect of the mute resistor on distortion at low level output.

We supply the 33K because that is what Mauro used. Perhaps we will change the kit for the future.

Cheers!

Thanks for that!
I was about to ask the same.
Luckily I have many 10K/1W Riken-Ohm (perhaps noisy but nice noise ;-) )

Cheers,
