Hi,

I just got the DAC powered again after the big final buidup.
I was meassuring the voltages and the currents again and noticed that the shunt current of the RH Placid HD is fluctuating somewhere between 16 to 59mA.
This is still an overcapacity.
How can it happen at one time suddenly?
Is the pot corrupt?

thx in advance,

Jordo

Loose wire or cold solder joint is the most likely cause.

Thx Brian,

Would it be likely that a cold solder joint will suddenly appear?
I haven't had it before..

Loose wire at the power output? The voltage is steady.

My impression is that it worked prior to mounting in its new home. If that is the case, it stands to reason that it is something mechanical that changed in the move.

The two things that come to mind as the cause of the problem, is a cold solder joint (less likely, but possible, most likely a ground pad because due to the ground plane, they are harder to heat sufficiently) or a loose wire (quite likely since it was all just wired up).

It will take some poking around to eliminate that cause.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the wires to the terminal blocks. Try reflowing the joints of easily nudged components (heatsinks, large caps, etc).

It is certainly possible that it is a pot issue, but likewise, why would it suddenly be a problem? Possible but less likely.

Thx Brian!

Playing around with the powerconnections did the trick! ;)

Solved.
