Hi Guys - I ordered a Buffalo III board and a Placid HD bp pcb, I plan to start with one board and the if all goes well add a second board.
I have a few Questions: Do I need a output stage? Or can/should I output directly into my pre-amp.
If I use an output stage would their be any advantage to using a tube output vs solid state, such as the IV?
Do you know of a nice looking chassis that would accommodate Buffalo III boards and accessories?
Thanks,
Rick

I will answer your questions in order:
1) For results in line with the quality of the DAC yes you need one. 2) This is a question of taste, but if you want superb DNR go with the IVY. If you want a more raw discrete output stage go with the Legato 3.1 which also has incredibly low THD. I won't comment on tube stages as I do not personally prefer them. 3) Par metal make some good ones, as do others. I will let some others answer this.
Cheers! Russ
