THE SPDIF-4 board is really not design for TTL input. Initially we thought it might work - thus the text you see in Leon's guide. If you wish to use the TORX module with the SPDIF-4 module you should stick with 75R termination and use a voltage divider to get the signal level down to near consumer level.

The circuit is just really not designed for TTL.

Thanks Russ
I thought that may be the case.

Can the comparator (that your using), handle TTl level input?

Being that I'm using your Optical input module, and instead of dropping the TTL level, then bumping it back up with
the comparator, I am thinking of bypassing all the previous components and putting the TTL straight into the comparator? ( maybe with a resistor before input)

It might be a good idea if you could do a sticky post's relevant to the manuals.
As per amendments/errata, until people have time to do the manual updates.

The Buf3 itself can easily accept the TTL level signal directly. You don't need the comparator at all for that case. You can wire directly to the DAC if you like, but you will need to disconnect the correlating wires from the SPDIF-4 module.

ok then
break into the tracks just for the plug.

wiring directly just makes the plug messy.
