I've ordered and am waiting on two BIII boards for a dual-mono build and now need to order the remaining components.

I plan on feeding the BIII with an Exadevices USB to I2S Interface, 3 spdif inputs, which run into a 4 input level converter and then the sidecar (any idea when these will be back in stock?). I'd like the output of the DAC to remain balanced to feed a balanced pre-amp and amp, no need for single-ended outputs with the exception of a Ventus supplied headphone jack. Before I get started though I have a few quick questions.

1) If using two Legatos in dual-mono setup, you'd have to run signal through op-amp buffer stage to get balanced outputs? In order to stay fully discrete, just use one Legato? Looking at schematic diagram for Legato, left and right channels are separate and can be fed with their own power supplies? Is their any advantage to using two legatos other then building separate boxes?

2) Can output of a single Legato run both the Ventus circuit inputs and Preamp inputs at same time or is it necessary to switch outputs of Legato?

Thanks in advance.

1) You don't have to use two Legato - you can use one, just sum the outputs remembering the channel opposite the selected mono channel will have the phase reversed.

2) You should be able to drive both at the same time.
