Hello, i've built a buffalo dac with the follow configuration:
psu: simple LT1085 regulator and 10000uF filtering, waiting to upgrade to better unit.
output stage: mixed transformers/tubes, transformers (10k 1:1) doing i/v and unbalancing signal to feed a tubr cathodic srpp buffer, psu for tubes is salas HV shunt reg.
4 spdif selector connected to the buffalo via very short, 1 inch, ribbon cable.
first issue: there's a short delay from when music starts and effective signal lock, so the first 100-200 ms are always lost, no big deal really but i like to listen to all the music and not only the 99,999% of it ;)
second issue is more difficult to track down: occasionally music stops for a second or so, or also goes on & off several times in a time of 3-4 seconds, i was lucky to be near to the buffalo last time it happened and saw that lock led stays on, so it should not be a problem of the source but of the dac itself.
any clues on how to fix this?
pics of the build will follow later, thanks
