Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has successfully modified a universal DVD player or standalone SACD/CD player by extracting a raw DSD and word clock signal and providing outputs for them. A dream project of mine to do provide a Sony SCD-XA777ES with these ouputs so they can be fed into the Buffalo DAC.

Thanks,

-Mark

The one other question I have is if the Buffalo DAC can accept DSD when configured to run in dual mono mode. I understand that the raw DSD signal occurs as separate streams for each channel (2 coaxial outputs). Can one stream be sent to each DAC module?

Normally the DSD bitstream contains the 1 to 8 channels you need to decode. In case of dual mono the number of channels should be 2. You feed both boards the same signal and set the left/right channel as per manual.
There were several users modding their Denon players in the past, I've not seen anyone use the SCD-XA777ES.
