I'm trying out various layouts for the DAC components in a fairly small case. Should the proximity of the power lines (in the red circle) to the signal lines be a problem? Alternatively I was thinking about the layout in the second picture, but wasn't sure whether keeping the output lines short was more important than keeping the power lines to the output stage shorter. Short routing of the I2S lines (USB to DAC) is of the utmost importance, and trumps all other considerations. You definitely want to keep them away from any power lines, as they will inject all sorts of noise, which will be VERY noticeable.
I would go with the layout in the top picture, but swap sides with the supplies (LCDPS on the right, PlacidBP on the left). Also, spin the Legato/Buffalo 18deg. Then with the USB on the right, the I2S will be as short as possible going into the Buffalo.
Use shielded wire for SE outputs and you will be fine. Balanced outputs will be (largely) immune to noise.
