What is the maximum and safe current output of this supply?
Thanks Tom

There is no single maximum current, as it depends on the voltage drop, available cooling, etc.

I too am interested in knowing how much current the Placid HD can handle. Lets assume first that we have more than adequate heatsinking, and that transformer output voltage is close. Say we have a 12 volt supply, with a max current requirement load) of 1A, and we have a transormer of 14-15 volts. Perhaps this load would require 1100 mA of CCS, with adequate cooling/sinking assumed, what are the parts which would burn first with too much current: CCS resistors? FETs? Clearly, using fixed resistors we could use a 5W part there. I am just interested in knowing how far the rest of the parts can be pushed, and which ones provide the ultimate limit?
