I was wanting to confirm with those in know, whether the Opus dac can be driven from the I2S output of the CD Pro2m directly? (I would put it in the same case with short leads, not interchassis connection.)

It depends on whether your CDPro2M has the optional master clock header. From this datasheet: http://www.audiodiylab.com/datasheet/cdpro2.pdfOn page 13, is lists the header outputs of the CDPRO. If you have the optional 16MHz clock output header, you are in luck. If not, you will need a separate master clock. Our Metronome board will fit the bill for this, and also let you up-sample the I2S if you want. There is some variation in terminology between Phillips and Wolfson, so here's how you want to hook it up... CDPRO I2S Header -> DAC header =========================================== Pin 2 SCLK (Serial Clock) -> BCK (Bit Clock) Pin 3 WCLK (Work Clock) -> LRCK (Left Right Clock) Pin 4 DATA -> DIN (Data In) Pin 5 GND -> G (Ground) Optional Clock Header -> DAC Header =========================================== Pin 2 CLK16 -> SCK (System Clock) (Commonly called Master Clock) If you use the Metronome, you run the four I2S outs of the CDPro to the metronome in (no Metronome SCK input), then run the five metronome outs to the Opus DAC(s). Hi Brian,
I will find out what is what. I had realized that I2S can come in different packages but I didn't realize that the master clock was an issue. I think I have seen reference to this on a Dutch website.
Seperately, with the metronome, I am wondering if you can use this to tap into the stream before the DAC in a squeezebox the way John Swenson has on various forums. Anyway, that will require more research on my part.

If you want to use I2S out of the CDpro you will need a metronome module. :EDIT: I did not realize you were talking about opus and not Buffalo.:EDIT: Edited by user Wednesday, February 11, 2009 5:25:52 PM(UTC)

If you want SPDIF input the Opus you will need one of our SPDIF receivers, either the MUX or the WM8804.

There is no waiting list, no reservations. We need to finish designing the new boards, then build and test prototypes. Once we are comfortable everything is working as designed, then we will open up pre-orders while we build them. I will post news about progress on the News page of the web site.
