Hello,
I`m having a problem with the tridents.
When I install DVCC and VDD i get 3.3V and 1.2V at the tridents output.
But when I install the VDD_XO module I get 3.3V + 3.3V at DVCC and VDD_XO but I only get 1.09 at VDD.

System:
Buffalo II
LCDPS set to 5.25V
Legato 3.1 w. buffers
Placid HD BP set to 14.5V

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Did you adjust your power supply for higher current draw after installing the Tridents? The current of 450mA is needed after the Tridents! I believe 350ma before the Tridents!

Good luck,
Milton

I thought that was only with older models of the lcdps and placid?
I use a new LCDPS with 3W resistors.

I think I found what I had done wrong. I removed the resistors and replaced them with wire. Now I get correct values. So I must have mixed up the resistors. Ordering new ones to replace the wire.

Next step is to mod my Musiland monitor 03us for i2s out :)

My buffalo II does not work anymore. Stopped working from one day to the next after installing the tridents. Done some tests and have found that the tridents still work. I get 0V at the output of the VDD module. One of the lights on the B2`s module is more dim than the other. Will have to measure the dac chip outputs to see if there is a short or something. I can see why the warranty is gone when the tridents are used.

The reason for Russ' comment on the warranty is the need to remove components from the DAC board. That doesn't always work out that well, because it depends on the soldering capability of the builder.

Went over all the solder joints when using just the jumpers. No result, still 0V at the 1.2V regulator.

Replaced the jumpers with new resistors and voila I have the correct voltages again. Now I just hope the dac still works.

OT. I can understand why the warranty is the way it is. However. I would not have used jumpers if it had not been for someone mentioning that it could be done in a different thread. In hindsight I should have read more carefully... http://www.twistedpearau....aspx?g=posts&t=1661

As this was a misunderstanding on my part, I regret mentioning it here. But I hope that anyone else trying to use jumpers will be very careful as it may seem to work (plays music for a while) but it seems that it is not a long term solution.

The tridents and avcc module has been replaced with new ones now. Seems to work, but then again it did work for a while before it failed the last time. It looks like ... atm though due to solder-desolder over and over again.

Hope it works over time Anxious
