Found in the Buffalo III DAC Integration Guide, page 23 - "Powering the Buffalo III with the Trident modules attached - Since the Trident modules are shunt regulators with a high ripple rejection, one doesn't need to use a Placid shunt regulated power supply. Using an LCDPS is the most sensible option".

Based on the above Integration Guide advice, yesterday, I ordered a Buffalo III and LCCPS (also ordered IVY III kit with Placid BP Power Supply Kit & TOSLINK Module).

Question # 1 - Have been unable to determine for certain the best power transformer user should utilize with the LCDPS, Should user select the 9+9 15VA transformer with the LCDPS for use with Buffalo III DAC with trident modules combination? I should add, I plan to order parts to build up the Buffalo III I ordered yesterday to a dual mono Buffalo III in the near future.

Question # 2 - Is a 10+10 transformer too much for the LCDPS?

Question # 3 - RE: the IVY III I/V stage - it appears user can use the R_SE & L_SE & GND on the IVY III I/V stage for single ended output. Is there an advantage to using the Ballsie Lite Converter for single ended output? I plan to use a the IVY III into a DCB1 HYPNOTIZE (buffer with no gain) Can you forecast an availability date for the Ballsie Lite?.

Question # 4 - Should I be thinking about going directly from IVY III into a First Watt F3 with 10K input impedance or First Watt F5 with 100K input impedance using the Volumite Controller without the DCB1 buffer in the chain?

Very much looking forward to delivery of the Buffalo III and IVY III.

Thank you.

1. Recipes are mentioned in pages 33-35.
2. I think you'll be ok.
3. No, the IVY3 has an integrated ballsie stage. That said, you need Balanced/SE conversion when going dual mono. For that reason I would skip the DCB1. If you need SE output, a buffer and plan to go for dual mono, order the Ventus EZ to get a balanced to SE converter and buffer in one step.
4. The volumite isn't needed with the BIII. It has on-board volume control. You can hook up your power amp right after the IVY3, you don't really need a buffer there.
