Every time we order DAC boards, we have doubles the order size. Every time, we sell out way before we though we would.
We will be ordering more boards in a couple weeks, but are taking a little time to squeeze in some changes for the next generation.
DAC changes: Replace jumper pin headers with tri-state dip switches. Add support for new WM8741 (DSD header). Replace WM8740 with WM8741. This last change will affect the module prices as the chip is 3x more expensive. Change output capacitors to Elna SilmicII (actually started this with the last generation of boards).
Receiver changes: Replace jumper pin headers with tri-state dip switches.
We will also be officially adding the new COD DAC (based on the TI PCM1794) to the lineup. It will have optional simple passive I/V on board (Dale RN55 0.1% resistors and Elna SilmicII capacitors), or a separate active I/V stage (still being designed).
We are also hard at work on a fully discrete headphone amplifier. We have working prototype, but are still experimenting with various components options. We are thinking we will offer this in 3 forms: bare through-hole board, complete through-hole kit, and pre-built SMD modules. The boards will share the same footprint as the rest of the family (2" x 3.3"). Power will be provided by the LCBPS power supply (or whatever supply you may choose to use).
We don't have an availability date yet, but will post one as soon as we know.
Now, back to shoveling snow!

Some pin headers would be useful for connecting external (to the case) switches. For example, I think the WM8741 has a bunch of selectable digital filters and it would be nice to install external switches to select the different filters. Other than that, excellent news.

Pads are there, but the headers probably won't be installed as some like to direct wire. Edited by user Sunday, December 16, 2007 6:10:34 PM(UTC)
