Benefit of using an external pre-amp (Pass DCB1)?

Hello everyone. I'm looking forward to buying my BIII tomorrow and have a question regarding pre-amps. I am building a DCB1 and am wondering if it's much better than the built-in function that is available on the BIII? I will need the switching for non-digital sources but I guess that can be solved if using the DCB1 is a bad idea.
Does anybody have any experience/ideas?
Thanks, PKCain

There is nothing wrong with such an approach.
Personally I like the minimalist approach of putting as little between me and the source as possible.
