Hi all,
I am a newbie to this DIY DAC and have been looking for a good DAC. I have read amazing things about Buffalo DAC and have been waiting for its availability. I am getting ready to pull a trigger and build a dual mono balanced Buffalo III DAC. Would somebody give me some advices of what need to be purchased to build a complete functional dual balanced mono Buffalo III DAC unit? Thank you so much in advance for the information.

Justin.

For sure you will need either 2x Legato 3.1 or IVY III with the two Buffalo III

Then as per LeonvB stated, we need to know which inputs you will use

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. I would like to have coaxial and USB inputs. I also would like to have XLR outputs and I wonder if it is a lot of troubles to add an additional pair of RCA outputs. Thanks again for all your help.

Optimal would be
2x IVY3 or Legato 3.1,
2 x BIII,
2x Placid HD,
2x Placid BP HD,
2x 9V,
2x 15V,
4:1 Input module,
Sidecar,
USB input module (likely you'll want to wait for the new version)
And for SE out 1x Ballsie Lite

I hope I'll get to finish the integration guide for the BIII before the next batch goes on sale to give you much, much more information.

Good list Leon, but I would not that for the last module SE output is also handled extremely well by Ventus EZ, or Ventus. In fact I would personally prefer one of those.
