If every BIII comes with: MUX, Trident, Volumite and Trident. If doing duo mono configuration one of the on board MUX and Vomunite is going to be redundant?

No.
The "MUX" in an on-chip MUX so you can't take it out of the ESS chip
The "volumite" is an on-board micro processor that sets the registers in each board/chip. I don't know if the boards will be bundled with the current implementation of volumite, but I suspect not.
With the on-board switches you can for example set one board mono right and the other mono left and both boards using "SPDIF input #1"
If you want to use "volumite" (as in the current version of volumite), you would remove the on-board micros and use the volumite to control the two boards through their I2C inputs

Interestingly the Buffalo III references now state a 5.25v supply, as opposed to 5.5v on the Buffalo II. Given that some folks appear to have been having Tridents go out and the Buffalo III includes Tridents, is this a change to improve reliability?

In BII if use Trident it is better to use LCDPS how about BIII? Or Placid HD is a better solution? Thanks.

As you might have noticed the integration guide already suggested dropping the voltage when using Tridents for quite some time. The Tridents are shunt regulators, and one has to make sure there is sufficient voltage to operate them. The suggested voltage range is 5 to 5.5V, and the new recommendation is right in the middle of it. This should mean that when a user adjusts the voltage (either on a cold or warm Placid), the end result should always land somewhere in the suggested range.
