Hi Brian, Russ, What would need to be changed to connect the OPUS DAC to the Legato 2 for SE? I would also would love to use BAL eventually. I'd love to be able to use stuff that I already bought for now... ;-) Thanks Do Edited by user Sunday, June 19, 2011 9:09:23 PM(UTC)

Thanks Do Unfortunately there is no good way to use the Legato with the WM8741. Your best bet will be the IVY-III. Sorry.

Hi Russ,
I do have an IVY III as well.
How would you modify it to fit the bill?
Thanks Do

Simply use the V-IN header instead of the I_IN header.

I'm sorry if my question is ignorant but my understanding is that the Opus does not need an I/V stage. Is there a benefit of using the IVYIII with the Opus other than to utilize the Bal/SE section and to drive headphones?

It certainly does not need an I/V stage, as its output is voltage. :) But its output is relatively high output impedance and not at all filtered. Adding an output stage like the IVY-III considerably improves performance. Notice I said output stage, not I/V stage. :) Edited by user Thursday, June 23, 2011 6:16:39 AM(UTC)

One other reason is to obtain higher quality SE output by fully utilizing the balanced outputs via the BAL/SE stage.

Thanks Russ!
Yeah I noticed output stage (I/V = Current to Voltage output and it is already a voltage output). All noted!
So, output stage it is!
Ciao! Do
