Hello,

I am using a single placid power supply set up for an output of 3.3 volts. I am using this to power a 24MHz oscillator in my DAC - it's not a twisted pear DAC! : )

I have been told to try a high slew rate op amp (+5000 V/us)- suppose to sound much better for driving high frequency oscillators.

Will something like a Analog Devices AD8009 or Intersil EL5166 work as a replacement for the OPA227 that is installed on the Placid?

I do not know anything about op amps so I don't know if I can just swap these out?

Thanks -

Skibum

You can try. You will need to keep an eye on oscillations/compensation.

Our Buffalo uses a 100MHz clock and works very well with the Placid, if that helps you decide on what to do...

Oh really? I didn't realize.

Do you drive the Buffalo clock directly with the Placid or do you go through a regulator?

Thanks!

funny; I´ve only seen it with 80Mhz so far?and I´ve seen a few
but I´ve read that some were delivered with 100 though
what´s it supposed to be?

There is a 3V3 regulator between the Placid and the Buffalo clock. It is either an on-board series regulator (standard) or an optional off-board shunt regulator (Trident).

All new Buffalo II come with a 100MHz XO. I believe the 80MHz was replaced with the current 100MHz version in November 2010.

All 2011 versions are delivered with an 100Mhz clock. Earlier versions have an 80Mhz clock module.
