I know that a 2x9v/15VA transformer is the recommended option for a 5.5v output, but I have a 2x12v toroidal around. Will the higher regulation margin make the Placid get too hot to the point to be damaged?

For now I am using an encapsulated 2x9v/10VA, a bit smaller than the recommended one, however it seems to drive the DAC just fine. Will a 2x9/15VA toroid bring a noticeable difference?

Either will work fine. The 12V unit will be hotter.
