a friend is giving me a DDDAC 1543 MKII with a USB/I2C input module-
my intention is use this as an upgrade to my SONOS coax SPDIF output-
my understanding is that the sonos has a 16/44.1 output-
Have any members used your spdif transceiver with this DAC and how did they set the dip switches or would anyone project the proper setup-

that question didn't bring any responses- lets try again
having ordered the opus wm 8804 module and figuring the AIF was where I am going to tap signal for the I2S input into the TDA1543- the connection would be as follows(?)
AIF to TDA;
SCK to pin 1 BCK on the TDA
Dout to pin 3 DATA on the TDA
THE QUESTION IS- which connection on the opus wm8804 is the Word Select output- on the 8412 this connection is called FS
I'm assuming the recommended spdif in-1 0 0 1 switch setting is the way to go with the sonos spdif output
I appreciate anyone's help with this question- ie where is the word select output on the opus receiver module?

Just a little googling would have got you the answer. :)
Word clock and "left/right" clock mean the same thing. Because all the
word clock does is say with of the left or right channels is currently
being sent. Different datasheets use both terms. WM8804 datasheet
terminology is what went on the PCB.
So LRCK is what you are looking for.

I did go to data sheets but the labeling wasn't consistent- I appreciate your help
this digital stuff is new to me- i'm more of an analog guy but i guess "all things must pass"
or at least move on to streaming!
may I assume that a star ground if possible is the preferred method with digital or would you keep signal and pwr gnds separate?

OK got it powered up today but no sound- all led green except "non-audio" until I apply input on "SPDIF IN" then all lights go red- Dip is set 1 0 0 1 I've tried both SCK and BCK source is coax out from SONOS any input (cuse the pun) would be appreciated rob Edited by user Saturday, April 23, 2011 9:58:03 AM(UTC)

poking around with my multimeter this morning reveals 75 ohms resistance to gnd across the SPDIF input- is this correct?

All red is most likely that the LEDs are in backwards. As fOr no output, o will need to read the rest of the thread first.

any issue with the leds being red instead of green- sorry for the weenie question but what follows is bizzare and hopefully fun reading I'm poking around tonight thinking either this receiver is not compattable with the DDDAC nos dac I was given or I killed it out of ignorance- neither thought is encouraging. Voltages are correct, but all those red leds, and I'm afraid to leave it on as I poke around. I'm checking grounds trying different configurations and just for yucks I bypass the 1meg resistors to ground on the analog outputs of the dac- SHAZAM I've got sound and its quiet and sounds OK- who knew? Who am I to argue? Here is the kicker- the dip settings make absolutely no difference! if I disconnect the Data connection no sound-obviously- but the dips don't change anything!! Any ideas from those of you who know more than I?(thats quite a crowd obviously) anywho I'll sleep better tonight, thanks for putting up with this weenie r Edit- bonehead, thats me! In rereading the manual I notice one must power cycle for dip changes to take affect- and its true! So please disregard the request for more sagacious advise.
