Hi
As the title suggests, I want to know whether I can use the same transformer for two Placids. I will be purchasing the 9v+9v transformer off the TP website.
One Placid will be used for Buffalo. One Placid will be used for 12v Tentlabs X03.2 clock.
Thanks

Powering two Placids is not a problem, but 9VAC secondary is really not enough for 12VDC output.

Could I use your 15v+15v 30VAC one instead?
Sorry, I do not know much about transformer requirements.

HI,
The Buffalo II requires 5.5v and running a placid @ 15v AC and it will probably closer to 16v-17v without load (+/- 21.5V DC after rectification). Your Placid will be generating tons of heat and this is if you can even achieve 5.5v from the 15v transfo. I strongly suggest you use the 9v for the Buffalo II (it's just an extra $20 to make it better).
The 15V transfo will work ok for the 12v Tentlabs.
Thanks

Thank you for your replies. I have limited space inside my cabinet. I am trying to save space, rather than $$$. I think that I will revert to my original plan, which is to use an existing 24v Meanwell 2A SMPS that is already on duty in the cabinet, and supply the Buffalo and Tentlabs clock via Per Anders' super regulators. 12v for clock. 5v for Buffalo. Anyone see any problem with this? Edited by user Tuesday, February 1, 2011 7:43:30 AM(UTC)

As long as you are supplying the correct voltages you will be ok.

Stacking transformers is another option.
