Hi to all, because of better ventilation, i would like to place my Placid / Placid BP in a vertical position, inside of a CD-Players Backplate. (The backplate has 85mm height, enoúgh room) Why? The top cover has ventilation holes only near the back. Placing the Placids deeper in the cabinet will definately cause heat problems, because the player´s servo circuits - designed in the mid eighties - do emit a lot of heat as well. So the cooler Buffalo/IvyIII will be placed horizontally deeper in the cabinet, in front of the the Placids. The analog output wires of the IVYIII will travel very close to the Placid boards. Any problems with that? The Placid pcb´s do not radiate any noise that the cables could catch? All the best, Nak Edited by user Sunday, August 8, 2010 8:33:58 AM(UTC)

I don't see any problem in that.

Thanks. I could probably stuff all boards very close together (besides a heat issue) and they would not catch noise from each other? All the best, Nak

Remember, Placid is not a switcher, just a linear shunt regulator. It doesn't emit any noise. Edited by user Sunday, August 8, 2010 9:09:00 AM(UTC)

Just make sure to keep the AC wiring (that feeds the placid) away from signal wiring, as much as possible, and definitely do not run them along side each other.
