Hi,

This is a sort of question, sort of information message if what I am looking at transpires to be so....

I was looking at moddable players for obtaining a raw DSD output. I found a product called Vanity by a company called Audiopraise, which identifies the digital stream tap points and allows them to be fed out a digital connector on the rear of a player (I assume in raw format which the Buffalo/32/B2 will be able to decode).

It lists compatible players here: http://audiopraise.com/vanity/support.php

And it has links to installation manuals which shows the tapping off points for digital feeds. They say
Quote:
The player has to fulfill three basic requirements in order for us to successfully support it:

It has to work internally with raw DSD and do not convert it into PCM on it's own
The internal data paths have to be bit-accurate otherwise serious degradation of sound quality occurs
There has to be sufficient physical space in the player to fit the module itself

For proper functionality of reclocking the player must have masterclock equal to 512Fs. Third party master clock upgrades can help to meet this requirement.

The question part of my post is for Russ/Brian to confirm if these points can be tapped and fed to the Buffalo 2, or would the product be necessary as well?

I have one of the listed players laying around and will tap the digital off it if I cannot manage it on my PS3.
