I connect my buffalo 2 with MUX with I2S but while the MUXs lock led is always on the buffalo seems to loose sync as his lock led switch off and the sound stops for about a second.
The wiring connection is
MUX gnd, to Buffalo gnd.
MUX BCK, to Buffalo DCK.
MUX LRCK to Buffalo D1.
MUX OUT to Buffalo D2.
Both MUX and BUFFALO powered with a placid and the voltage is 5.28V
BUFFALO is wired to add a volumite but i haven't attached it yet and the firmware chip is not removed from buffalo

Update
If that helps when I touch the GND out on the placid with the multimeter to mesure the working voltage I have the same symptom, the dac loose the lock with the MUX.

Is the loss of lock temporary (>1 sec) or longer lasting?

The loss of lock is temporary and has no pattern (it could play for 5 minutes between two losses and it could play for 3 sec between losses)
I change the connection between MUX and buffalo from I2S to SPDIF and the problem remains.

So you saying it is happening for both SPDIF and I2S? What is your source?

My source is a Philips CDR880. I gave SPDIF straight to buffalo and I had no problems, no unlocks. So (I think) the possible reasons are: 1- something is wrong with the output of MUX 2- something is wrong with the ground. I have MUX, placid and buffalo on a wooden board - should I ground them all through their legs with the GND on the socket outlet (I only have grounded there the transformer ground through a filter) 3- something else (I can't thing anything else)  Sorry I can't take a photo right now as I haven't got access to a camera. I borrowed a camera and here are the photos:  Uploaded with ImageShack.us/  Uploaded with ImageShack.usI removed the cables that goes to input switch and to volumiter and the music plays without unlocks from the dac but when I touch the output on the placid with the multimeter to mesure the working voltage, the dac loose the lock with the MUX. The same happens when i touch the rca outputs gnd with the multimeter. Any suggestions?

Temporary unlocks when you touch components/connections is absolutely normal. Same think may happen when you turn on/off air-conditioners, fans, soldering stations. I'm not sure anybody found the reason for this sensitivity, nor a cure, but once the DAC has been boxed its really not a big problem.
Are you running the buffalo without an I/V-stage?
