It was going fine, adj. output voltages to +-15V then voltage across R1 & R2 to .250V . Rechecked voltage out then R1 & R2 again. On R2 one probe slipped & contacted the HS & the LEDS blinked.  Now I can not get the voltage across R2 over .065V . I'd guess QP3 went south, what else might need replacing? The output voltage is still at 15V.

Did this only effect one half or both?
Check D5 and QP1. And possibly D6 and QN1.

Thank you for the help.
One side only, the QP1 D1 positive
regulator side.
Voltage outs are +-15v.
All LEDs are lit at same intensity.
I can not get the voltage across R2
over .061V .
I checked the heat sinks and see they
are not connected to ground. Makes me
wonder why it caused a problem when the
probe slipped and touched it? But as I
wrote, the LEDs did blink off and back on.
I compared voltages across D5 VR2 QP1
to the corresponding voltages on their
mirror image parts in the negative side
and found them to be close/same.
What/how should I check QP1 D1 for?
Also, I have a second Placid BP v2.1.2
kit, yet to be built from which I can
cannibalize parts.
I'm thinking the opamps and QP2-3 QN2-3
are ok since the voltages regulate ok!?

Reading through some of the posted problems with the Placid BP and came across someone that had a bad VR1, so I checked mine out and it measures approx. infinate resistance on center adj. pin. New pot 20 Ohms and
adjusts to .250v .
Now to let it cook awhile.

The Legato2 from the Sabre II, into the First Watt F5 clone into Seas Thors. Listening to music and the shunt is much better than the series reg. I've been using since the first TP Buffalo24. Next up the 5 volt shunt. Edited by user Monday, April 11, 2011 4:11:00 PM(UTC)
