Hi,

As I understand from the manual the current draw from the Legato is 350ma. Can you confirm wether is counts per Rail or for both rails added?
Just to be shure. If it's per rail I have to set R1/R2(on the Placid) for 0.35V. Am I right?
Thank you,
Ed

Hi Ed,

It is +/- 350mA per rail but I would adjust VR1/VR2 to 0.380V - 0.400V to leave 30-50mA headroom.

Just measure R13 and R14 to know how much mA you're actually shunting. Adjust VR1/VR2 until the voltage across R13 and R14 show 0.03V - 0.05V. This will mean you have between 30mA - 50mA headroom.

Ciao!

I would leave a little more in the shunt - and monitor the heat sinks.

Thank you both pinocchio and avr300.
Much appreciated. It is clear to me now!
I only made a short unfortunately somehow connecting the R1 to watever metal piece. One side is dead now! Not really dead, but I dont have regulation anymore. It does 11.5volt about and thats it. Up to the iron! My gues is I ruined VR1.
Thanks anyhow,

Regards, Ed

Yes, you shorted to ground plane. Common mistake, new pot in, 'n you're back in business.

That's why the new Placid has test points.

Ya, I did replace the pot for a temporary Resistor getting the correct shunt, and back in business!
I want music!!!Boo hoo!
Thanks again for your advice.

I must ad that after raising to 380mA and 12.25Volts the thing gets bloody hot! I did not mesure but I expect it to be about 70 degrees Celcius. I will experiment a little to get this temp down a 10 or 15 degrees.
The big gain in using this current is a remarkable overall improvement of the sound. Smoother and fuller.(my initial setting was 200mA/12V)

Hi,

The temperature hangs on about 60degree Celcius (135F) and stays there. It is highish but I think I can leave it there!
