Howdy fellow Buff'os with Volumites. Do you have to short the ADDRESS pins for the Volumite to work? This isn't very clear in the user guide. I have wired it up and built it correctly and confirm power is being used by the Volumite and the uC on the Buff board has been removed. Voltage reg is removed and the link from pins 1-3 of the reg is done. However turning the knob doesn't affect the volume at all  There is also a comment in the Volumite guide that says 'observe the order of the SDA/SCL lines is not the same on the Buff header as it is on the Volumite'. Have you read this? Yes thanks, although my setup is a bit different - no shunt supply (yet), and I don't run IVY, I have a Lundahl 1527XL transformer output stage and I'm running I2S into mine via a dddac.de USB-I2S board and Tent reclocking module. Hi, yes firmware has been removed from the Buff board. As I said, I have followed all the written known instructions correctly.
Thanks for the link to the Buff (DIYaudio) guide. A good improvement over the TPA guide.

Do you get any volume at all? Assuming the chip is working, the only thing that controls the volume is the resistance of the pot. Edited by user Thursday, February 17, 2011 7:41:47 PM(UTC)

Yes, normal volume, Buff2 is working. First up I just got the DAC working with I2S, then added the Volumite later. The volume hasn't changed, Volumite pot just doesn't do what it is supposed to. Cheers

I suppose by "normal" you mean the DAC output is at full volume like before. Try measuring the pot and see if the resistance changes or you have some short or open on the pot.

Did you either install or pull up R1,R2 on volumile?

Howdy guys, yes the pot seems to work OK (it is new so no great surprises there). The resistors are fitted, which I believe are not required but are harmless enough even if there aren't they? Cheers.

Hi guys - have had a fellow electrical engineer look over the board - can't be faulted. Not a silly question - the firmware orientation has been checked. Should the A_MUTE LED be lit all the time, none of the time or some of the time? Edited by user Sunday, February 20, 2011 5:07:55 PM(UTC)

Have you connected all 4 wires between BII and Vol ? The automute is only lit after a cold start and only until first lock is obtained. Thereafter you newer sees it again until next cold start. Edited by user Sunday, February 20, 2011 1:47:06 PM(UTC)

Yes and all four wires go to their respective correct homes SDA, SCL, GRND, VD. My Automute LED was lit yesterday the whole time it was playing music if I recall. What does this mean? Does it help with diagnosis?

The mute LED should definitely not be on while music is playing. Lock should be. As some have suggested a simple photo might set you right.
