Hi, Does Buffalo II upsample 16/44.1 to 24/192? Or to DSD? Are there any options with upsampling, like choosing to leave 16/44.1 at 16/44.1, or to upsample? Maybe there are options of choosing some sample rates with DIP switches? Also, are there options of ordering 80 mHz or 100 mHz clocks? Please reply,all this is pretty new to me. No, basicly the DAC always internally resamples everything to a much higher rate. There are no direct options to change this on the board, although one could set some options in the registers of the DAC using I2C. I do understand where you're coming from, but please remember this is a totally different DAC than the Audionote you're now using. Just leave the settings as they are and enjoy. There's no way to choose your clock speed, all new versions will be delivered with a 100Mhz clock. There are no options for choosing different oversampling rates even if you can access the registers. The Sabre DAC chip oversamples to >1.5Mhz

I recall Russ saying this in a DIYAudio thread. That said, it's utterly nonsense to turn everything off. One would likely get preringing, more jitter, etc. You can't increase bit depth just like that. Internally the Sabre uses 48 bits for calculations, which is one of the reasons it attenuates so well with the Volumite. But it's not able to create what's not there.

Technically it still works even with data fed in at the original sample rate. It just sounds awful unless the data is a high rate to start with, then it sounds fine. :)

This means that I feed it with native 16/44.1 and it does everything on its own? It resamples to more than 1.5 GHz? And does it raise 16 bits to 24 or 32? There is obviously no point in forcing this chip to stay at 16/44.1... Also, how can I order Buffalo II with Placid? I've sent a bunch of e-mails and still no reply

When they go on sale, they tend to sell out fairly quickly. We have to do it this way so I can keep up with orders. Mainly it's so I have time to build all the kits that people order along with the Buffalo, while at the same time keeping up with the day-to-day non-Buffalo orders.

I see.I saw the Bufallo II page, of course, but I thought there is a way to pre-order immediately. Anyway, I want B II and Placid power supply. Is there any point in adding Trident to that order? I guess I have to wait till the countdown's done? OK I would still like to know these: This means that I feed it with native 16/44.1 and it does everything on its own?
