Since I really don't like sound of musebp (edgy, sharp sibilants...), I'll give a try silmicII but I guess some quality film caps would be best here. Anyone tried some film caps on the output? What would be the recommend value on film caps for loads around 8K?

4.7uf should be fine.

I have used Wima and UC MKP. Both work quite well.

Have you ever tried Nichicon BP-S caps?

They sound pretty good, much better than the BP

I have installed the Obbligato caps on my Legato. It sounds better than elkos but not quite as much as changing decoupling caps does in old players for example. Of course even with Elna silmicII it sounded amazing allready!

Hi bassivus,

The caps look wonderful! I used them for my other tube gears.

By the way, what is the value of the resistor that attaches to the output RCA? What is it for? Is it for reducing the gain?

Thanks,
Milton

I am using Mundorf Supremes (3.9 uF into 10 Kohms per phase, balanced) with my new Legato 2. The sound is very, very good.

Nichicon BP-S? What model are you referring to? We supply ES (Muse) bipolar.

I also never heard for them but with some Google searching found them with some Taiwanese ebay sellers... So I'm guessing they are long time discontinued.

I don't think Nichicon makes them anymore but you still can get them on Ebay

I find them better then the ES Muse

Still, a good MKP is hard to beat.

Thanks

In all my SE gear I got the best results with Auricaps. They were very 'neutral' and revealing. The ones shown in the image are 4.7uF. The B2/Legato is mounted between Opus boards, just above an 8 channel DAC/ADC/Preamp that provides I2S.
