Hi,

I'm wondering if I can connect my CD player SPDIF (Coax) output directly to the Buffalo's SPDIF input without using a coupling transfo?

This is just for testing purposes and will buy S/PDIF 4:1 MUX/Receiver Module afterwards.

There is no transformer required.

If you use the SPDIF input on the Buffalo it is already AC coupled, you should be just fine as long as it is ordinary consumer level SPDIF.

I notice that the HiFace puts out a very hot SPDIF signal close to TTL level. It seems to work fine but will this high a level harm the SPDIF input on the Buffalo 2 over time? Would it be better to attenuate this with a resistive pad and use the SPDIF input, or AC couple it directly into the D1 input?
