Hi all.
Just finished my new B-II/IVY-III with Volumite.
Sounds wonderful.
Apart from Power supplies (older Linear PS on B32, Placids on B-II) & Volumite, both are wired up identically.
I have noticed that output level of new B-II is lower than B32 (with Volumite turned up all the way).
Haven't taken Volumite out of the circuit & reinstalled B-II's controller chip yet, but will do that tomorrow.
Question for those in the know: Is the output of the B-II/IVY-III combo (with or without Volumite) lower BY DESIGN than that of the B32s?
Or is it just a matter of variances between individual examples?
I have double checked the Placids are providing enough current & shunt overhead, so it's not that.
Analog voltages are +-15.0v on both systems.
B32s runs 5.0v, B-II runs 5.5v (as per their respective manuals).
Only difference I can see is Volumite, which I will remove tomorrow and retest.
Don't have an oscilloscope to compare signal level, & I'd have to find a constant volume sine wave or something similar to use with my DMM.
THought I'd ask the experts first.
Note: Yamaha HP-2's, which use a lot of power, are most noticeably quieter. Sennheiser HD800s are also quieter, but not as much a difference.
I've got outputs jumpered for 0 ohms in both cases, as well.

Yes. The B32S had 4VRMS on the balanced outputs, the IVY-III has 2VRMS by default on the balanced outputs. You can change the output on both boards by swapping out some resistors. All of this info is in the manuals......

Thanks Russ & Beefy.
Should have noticed this.
But after reading and rereading B32 and B-II manuals over and over and over....
You just miss what is in front of your eyes!
Still sounds great, by the way.
Will spend some time listening before deciding whether to up the output of the B-II.
Getting ready for a local Head-Fi meet tomorrow.

Thanks again. Happy listening.
