Brian / Russ, I am planning to give up on the Metronome and just connect S/PDIF to CODs. Do you think I would see noticable performance degradations in the setup without Metronome? Also the output of IVY lacks bass when I compare it with the PCM1794A EVM module, what could be the reason?

Thanks

The IVY is DC coupled so there is nothing to roll off bass. :)

You just may be simply noticing less rolled off highs.

I would not sweat operating without the Metronome. It should still sound great.

Often differences in out voltage level can give the impression of more bass as well.

Brian, on the IVY I have used the resistor values as per the Manual for 4v output (Buffalo Configuration). So which is what the TI EVM outputs as well (it has both 2v and 4v outputs). Anyways thanks for your time and I will spend this weekend on casing the whole kit.

Hi Russ / Brian,

After a long break and playing around with the OPUS, I spent sometime on fixing Metronome. I replaced SRC4192 and it works fine now. Like you mentioned in the earlier post, looks like SRC4192 got damaged.

I have another question. I am planning to build the Sympatico and how can I implement the volume control. I am going to be using COD in Dual Mono with Legato I/V (or IVY). I want to run the Balanced output from the I/V to amplifier.

One last question, would I be able to modify and use Trident regulator on 5V applications? I have a requirement of 5V/90mA for one another project.

Thanks
Subbu

It would be possible to make the Trident output 5V, but it would require changing the opamp and a couple Rs.

Thanks Russ. Would you be willing to help me with the Trident for 5V? Also any help with the volume control for COD Dual Mono will be useful. Right now I am planning on using two gang'ed pots one for each channel.

Joshua tree would be a great choice for volume control.
