Hi,

For test the placid I tried with a small 12V/12V transformer, all on and appears ok (All leds light on), but the transfomer was too small and been heat it a lot. I found a very big transformer in my house ( 2x15V 200VA transformer), When I switched on the placid, the placid started to make a noise and looks that burned the rectifiers (Smoke on the rectifier), any idea?, excessive transformer?, any component more will be dead? d'oh!

P.S. I start with the pots VR1 and VR2 at 20 Ohm (20 Ohm units)
P.S. I measured all R's and appears all ok

Any ideas about what parts will been damaged?, rectifiers? (Sure), diodes?. I need some help :(

It is very difficult to say. Usually when something like this happens it is because of some wiring fault from the transformer. I would need to know what transpired.

The parts that are most likely to be dead are the op amps, transistors, and LEDs in that order.

You could try just replacing the known bad parts, but you may very well be best served by just building another.

I found the origin of the problem, the transformer have just one secondary with center tap (Center tap with two points, this is the reason of my mistake). I believe that is broken the two rectifiers, leds D1 to D6 appears ok (I can measure it with the DMM), all the resistors are ok, and the main transistors appears are ok.

In worse case I'll buy a new Placid Think

Well it is worth a try to just replace the rectifiers, and then use a dual secondary transformer. :)

You can actually use a center tapped trafo, but it will require that you do some PCB surgery or rectify off-board. If you don't know how to do that, use a dual secondary.

Here is near to impossible get a rectifiers with the same footprint (I tried in different shops here), can you sell me a spare rectifiers?
