Here is my temporary set up so I can listen to my new Buffalo II while I decide what else to add and then how to lay it out and enclose it all. At a minimum, I will be adding a volumite for volume control and the new Twisted Pear USB module once it is ready. My temporary set up uses 20 AWG solid copper conductor wire from Radio Shack for everything, but I want to make sure that I am not degrading the sound or creating any type of safety issue. I would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations that people have regarding hook up wire for the following connections: 1. Wire carrying 120 VAC power from power inlet to transformers 2. Wire carrying stepped down AC from the transformers to the power supplies. 3. Wire carrying DC from power supplies to the Buffalo II and Legato or IVY III. 4. Wire carrying SPDIF digital signal from RCA chassis mount jack to Buffalo II. 5. Wire carrying audio signal from Legato or IVY III to RCA and XLR chassis mount jacks. That IEC looks familiar :)
1. Use double isolation (fi. heat shrink tubing). I've used double isolated 3x2.5mm2, as that's what I already had but 20 AWG should be more than enough for a DAC.
3. Twist and keep these short

I agree with Leon, keep the wires from the Placid boards to the Legato and Buffalo short, and twist them. I also would not run the Legato and Buffalo supply wires together.

Hi, without a metal box as is this case, where do you place GND. To me it seems no wired at all. Is there any issue?
