I am starting a new build on a Legato v. 2.0 board, and am wondering if it is possible/beneficial to consider eliminating the 100 uF power supply decoupling caps, or perhaps using small films (like .1 uF) in these positions. I am using a shunt regulated supply, with short wiring (~3 cm) and just am wondering if the onboard decoupling is necessary? Has anyone experimented by eliminating these caps?

Then can indeed be safely reduced to say 100nf especially if you are using a shunt regulated supply. But I would not eliminate them completely, and they should not hurt anything if you leave them in.

Thanks Russ, I am leaning towards going with 100 nF films then.
