What an honor to be the first lightweight DIY'er to have issues with Trident......
Tried installing my Trident set for Buff II today and am having a problem getting them to produce any output V. L6-8 are removed, I was running 3 Placids previously for the Dac portion, ran that current up to 350 ma each but still was not seeing but 6-8 mv from each of the 3.3V and 18mv or so from the 1.2V. Took the Tridents back out and tested one by one on the bench with the same results. All Tridents have both LED glowing brightly. I was under the impression that these were ready to go for the Buf II and the extra R was for different applications that would be explained in the manual. I maybe mis understood that? It doesn't get much easier than In/Out/Ground but obviously I have something screwed up.

Did you install R4 on the Tridents? It is required. Edited by user Monday, November 22, 2010 9:44:34 PM(UTC)

I think I see, R4 must be on the backside of the pcb. Thanks Russ

washout, once you have had more time to listen, please post a bit more on what you are hearing with the tridents. Did they make a huge difference?
Seems like you are one of the first few to get your hands on them so there will be quite a few of us who are curious.

@sureshm No not huge, but audible, still a big deal for me. One of my recent benchmarks for evaluation is using music that has very complicated or congested passages. On Sting's Desert Rose the chorus and bridge are a good example of this in my system. The Tridents helped a good bit in sorting that particular issue. More space around instruments and vocals, a little better instrument timbre, that type of audiophile speak would apply here. You have spent similar money on way worse than a set of Tridents. TP is on a roll with Buff II, the recent accesory offerings, Placid,Legato,Trident have been first rate.

Washout, could you let us know how much current the B-II is now consuming with the Tridents in place? I know Russ has said around ~450 mA, but I would like to get a real world data point on this, as I am currently adjusting a DIY shunt regulator to provide the correct amount of current. Thanks, b.

Tridents received, Tridents in, and system is up'n running. What a beast.
Christmas is glowing green this year.
The draw is 450mA.
My placid is juuust up to the task, no more than that. I can't get it to deliver more than 493mA, leaving perhaps a little to little in the shunt itself ???

@james.evans One feeds AVCC module, one for VDD/DVCC, one for clock. It was easiest for me early on to cut pcb power via tracks right near the main header to try different things.
