Is there any harm in switching the MODE on the Metronome while the unit it still powered up? I would like to be able to switch between 96kHz, 192kHz and bypass (using OTTO), while the Opus is live. I have the 1.0 version of the Metronome by the way.

I have not tried it with the unit powered up, but I would not be afraid to. Just look at the SRC4192 data sheet. The only hitch I can think of is that you might need to apply a reset (at the reset pin) after the change.

Russ Ok, great. I will try to hook it up with just a switch. If a reset is needed, then it will be a little more complicated for my poor little brain :)

the easiest way to reset the version 1.0 boards would be simply to connect a momentary (normally closed) switch to the power terminal. Then push the button for a second or two and release it and the device will be reset.
The newer (version 1.1) boards has a isolation resistor after the reset chip (TPS3809), so for that board you can simply pull the "RST" pin low with a momentary switch to reset.
Of course you could also do all of this with a microcontroller.

Just realised that there is a bypass jumper on the metronome board. I could just close this to bypass without using the OTTO, right? This would save some wiring at least.

I wired the bypass with an 0n-0n switch. I can switch it "on the fly" with the asrc running. with casual listening can't tell the difference.
