The same happens here if ordering 2 * combo. It must be due to the increased value of the order - then the shipping includes insurance I think.

Thanks Russ. It was mentioned above the tridents would take the current draw to 450mA or so? Stock placid puts out 350 if memory serves?

Is it easy to remove the ferrite for installing the Trident? Sorry, don't know what is ferrite looks like!

So I presume the Trident Combo for Buffalo-II contains three boards?
Two Tridents @ 3.3V and one @ 1.2V?

Milton It is not hard. Here are ways to remove them, the last being the most difficult. 1 and 2 are the easiest. 1) Hot air rework station. 2) SMT soldering tweezers. 3) Two soldering irons. 4) One soldering iron hot enough to heat from one pad through the ferrite and melt the solder on both pads. Do you mind to hand holding me a bit more on how to use the hot air rework station for removing the ferrite beads? Sorry, I have never used the hot air rework station.

Hi Milton,
if you google a bit you will see many excellent articles with pictures and videos on using a hot air rework station to remove parts. It's pretty simple. You will do fine.

Am I seeing two Buffalo II boards stacked sharing three Trident regulators ? And what is the other little board sticking out with the three (white purple and blue) wires or weren't we supposed to notice yet? Stephen

I was wondering how it would take somebody to ask. :)
What you are seeing is Brian's Buffalo II module test rig. Nothing more than that. :)
Its just a way for us to test modules as they come in.
The bottom board is bare, but has power routed to it and an I/V stage etc. Spring loaded pins connect the top module to the powered board, this allows testing of modules before they go out. :)

Yes. AVCC is separate. In the photo on the page, the AVCC in under the bare Buffalo board in my test rig. This lets me press the buffalo on the top of the rig for testing. All Buffalos on tested this way before they are packed up. Edited by user Saturday, November 20, 2010 12:38:19 PM(UTC)
