Hi
I have an old TXPS laying around that I would like to use for another project. Can the regulated section be changed from 9v to 5v? Can it do 5A? I think I remember that you only need to change a resistor but I am having a hard time finding the info. I checked the data sheets of the ST semiconductors but I could not figure it out. Anyway any information would be great. Thanks Kris

You could make it to 5V but you will want to calculate the power dissipation.

So are you saying its a bad idea?

Well unless your voltage drop is quite low, 5A is a lot current.

Well I really only need ~3A for the squeezebox touch but I was thinking of head room.

What is your voltage going to be after rectification?

I would suspect that is going to be more than those heat sinks can handle with that kind of drop.
