Hi,

I am finishing a Dual Mono Buffalo II + Legato combo and would appreciate very much any help grounding the whole thing. On top of that, I will be wiring like the schematic published for the IVI II, guess is the same thing.

Every Placid will be powered with 3 power supplies (1 Placid and 2 LCBPS), 1 power supply for the 2 Buffalo II boards (Placid monopolar), 1 only digital input directly connected to the SPDIF input of one of the Buffalos, 1 Ballsie and 2 single ended outputs.

A friend of mine is suggesting to "join" all the grounds from the power supplies (GNDs) into a single point and then wire from there to the GND of the different boards (placids, lcbps, etc...). Does it make any sense this idea ? .. I fail to see any benefit from it regardless of adding a common ground.

Best regards
Pepe

There is no need to add a central ground, as this is taken care of locally on the individual modules.

You should ground your chassis to the mains ground (earth), but nothing else. This will protect you in case of a mains fault.

Thank you Brian !

Does it matter anyhow that each channel (BII + Legato combo) has its own GND then ??. Each channel seems isolated from the other one, is that correct ?. If I use only one BII in stereo mode, there will be a common GND between the two channels, right ?. Sorry to ask such a basic question....still learning ! ;-)

best
