Dear Russ/Brian
I've ordered a Buffalo II, I tried a research on the subject without positive results.

How is it possible to visualize through proper leds the status of the DAC like:

Frequency: 44.1, 88 ... 192 Khz
Bit rate: 16-20-24
And, eventually, DSD/PCM detected
And eventually SPDIF/I2S/AES EBU detected.

Thank you in advance!

Andrea

Have a look at the main AC1 thread in the Control section of this forum.

Cheers

Thank you very much for your reply. I read the forum AC1 but unfortunately I have no skills to be able to work on such a device (programming etc.)

My request was for simple leds indicating status. Is that possible?

And further and anyway is there or will there be a kit-circuit for this purpose (also with display is ok, but already working) to just connect or solder to the Buffalo?

Thanks in advance,
Andrea

I would not have those skills or rather the time either so like many others here I am patiently waiting for Russ to make the AC1 kit available.

Once you have the I2S protocol and the S/PDIF multiplexer coded up in the microcontroller you can easily drive LEDs althoug I am angling for the full display. In fact for the multiplexer you can easily do that today by simply driving 4 LEDs directly from the connections to the S/PDIF mux.

Maybe Russ or Brian can provide some future looking statement whether the AC1 is still being pursued.

Cheers

Thomas

Ok, thank you, I will wait until the board & display are ready...

In the mean time: can I unsolder the two leds MUTE and LOCK from the PCB and put them on the front of the chassix with approx 20 cm cables? Will this cause any problems to the DAC?

Thanks!

Andrea

Yes, that is why they are not SMD and pre-mounted.
