In my rush to build a second Placid, using a Schotky bridge instead if the supplied one, I inadvertently connected the output of the bridge the wrong way around. IN my haste I had also connected the LED's backwards so the LED's lit and I didn't realise the problem for quite a few seconds. Connecting the bridge and LED's the right way around, the raw voltage is now correct, but no no output.

Has anyone an idea of the components that may have blown? Obviously the semiconductors are the first to change, however, if the surface mount opamp is likely blown, then I may just order a new Placid and try repairing this one at a later date.

Regards

Martin (who is somewhat embarassed!!!)d'oh!

Not sure what might have happened... But were you able to find schottky bridges to fit the Placid board? If so, I would be interested in knowing the part number and manufacturer, perhaps vendor as well. I have not been able to find a bridge (schottky) like this that would fit; or are you building a bridge with separate diodes and getting it to fit in that space on the board?
thanks,

I ended up building the bridge from discrete diodes, hence my first mess up! I used the existing board holes and just soldered a few leads together to make a bridge. Not pretty but it worked (well the second time anyway!). Like you I wasn't able to find a premade Schotky bridge to fit.
