Hello,
I read all the threads (I guess) but I didn't found a solution how to connect the BII - dual mode to a tipical I/V converter with only one balanced input each channel (one for the left and one for the right).
I saw all diagrams provided, but noone forsee this case, and is also specified that in dual mono each DAC has two balanced outputs and out of phase.

Of course I want to maintain 8 dac in parallel each channel and the dynamic range increased by this, but I want only one balanced output each DAC.

You need an I/V converter per channel.

I don't think, logically, this is the best solution, also because in this case I would anyway have FOUR balanced outputs, and what should I do with these than?

p.s.(I've though...but maybe I'm wrong: for each channel, to put in parallel the red and black of the two outputs, considering the outputs are of the opposite phase, is this a possible solution)?

You can use dual mono BIIs with one stereo balanced I/V, or 2 mono balanced I/Vs.

The out of phase channel will become in phase if you cross the +/- wires over for that channel.
This will also double the peak current possible, so you'll need to make sure whatever I/V stage you will use can handle the faily massive ~32mA peak that the 8 DAC channels in parallel will be able to pump out.

Dingo is correct about the wiring. He is also correct that your I/V stage will need to handle quite a bit of current, and the I/V resistance will need to be adjusted accordingly.

In the mean time I'm asking LC Audio if the Zap filter supports 32 mA peak input each channel.

Hi all,

This is my first post on the TPA product support forum.

l have a question regarding the output current capability of the Buffalo II DAC board. The output needs an I/V conversion, what is the nominal current swing at the DAC output and what value of load impedance (resistor ?) would you suggest ? My intention is to use a transformer as an I/V converter.

Hello Brian, Russ.

Considering my last connection diagram is correct (I had no confirmation on that) and I still want to implement a DUAL MONO DAC (already bought) with its advantages:

- which is the iRef resistor of the ESS9018 that I can change to adapt the peak current output to the Zapfilter?
- I mean, is that possible? Or which solution do you recomend?

Otherwise I see myself obliged to buy (two!) LEGATO or IVY III and the BALSIE for the unbalanced output...
