I've tapped the DSD output on pins 37-39 of the DSD chip + ground but when I connect it to the Buffalo II, I don't get a lock. I'm sure that the SPDIF switch is off. When the Buffalo is not connected, I get around 1.4V from each pin. However, this drops to zero when I connect everything to the Buffalo. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I'll be very grateful for any help. I'm a huge SACD fan and I've been dying to get DSD to my buffalo for a while. Edited by user Wednesday, July 14, 2010 5:53:07 PM(UTC)

I am pretty sure DSD from SACD is encrypted, so you can't do your own conversion to analog. I thought encryption was a standard of the SACD format. Edited by user Wednesday, July 14, 2010 4:00:32 PM(UTC)

Encryption doesn;t happen until the HDMI encoder. Several people have tapped the DSD from the Denon (and other) players for use with Buffalo and Opus DACs. I haven't yet, but I'm sure someone will chime in. Have a look here for some details: http://www.twistedpearau...t.aspx?g=posts&t=992

Compared to the photos in the thread Brian linked to, I have tapped the signals directly at the chip and not at the SMD resistors. I did this because I had an "accident" with one of the resistors  Does this matter?
