I have a Placid BP assembled from the TPA kit and a transformer with two 9VAC secondaries. I am thinking of using the positive half of the Placid BP to provide the +5VDC supply for a Buffalo32S. My plan is to connect the transformer secondaries in parallel to that half only and start increasing the value of the resistor R3 of the Placid BP until the output voltage is +5VDC. If I am not mistaken, the right value for R3 will be around 6KOhm. Are there any other changes required or recommended?

So, I would like to use the Placid BP module to simulate the Placid (single rail) module.

Why not just use a Placid?
It should work to use either half of the placid BP alone. You will need to calculate and then test to get the correct resistor value.

Thanks for your reply. This is simply because I happen to have a Placid BP at hand. The only resistor that needs to be changed is the one that sets the output voltage (R3 or VR3). Correct?
