Is there a plug and play solution for the Buffalo? i.e. buy this LCD and use this cable and it just works?

Not yet. The AC2 will have this function and many more. I expect it won't be too long before it's for sale.

I hope you are right kesgreen but I think it will be a while..... When it comes I think it will come together with a state-of-the-art MUX able to switch also I2S/DSD sources and have galvanic isolation of these. I don't think it will come soon but when it comes it will be great!!! Nic

All that candy sounds expensive! 'Soon' is a relative term of course. I think it's been in development for a few years now. Luckily I'm a patient man.
