How hot should the heatsink of QP1 get while driving the Buffalo II? After a while of driving the Buffalo it gets quite hot (haven't got my temp meter here, but too hot to keep my fingers on it for longer then 15-20 seconds.

I've got it set for 350mA and 5.5V, voltage is stable upon load.

Shunt regulators get hot. They are quiet, but not very efficient. As long as current and voltage are correct and stable, it should be fine.

The rule of thumb is that at 50C, you can keep your hand on it for only 2-3 seconds, so you should be well below that.
