If the transistor are placed on the top hole of the heatsink so that all the surface of it is cooled properly then its probes barely reach the top of pcb. If one wants the probes to go through the pcb then the only solution is to place it in the middle hole and leave part of the surface uncooled. I cannot find a way to upload a pic, but I think I have explained it clearly. On the pics shown in the ordering section it seems they are placed in the middle hole and part of the transistor does not touch the heatsink. Is this a problem? Hi, I really don't understand why you still worry about it. As I've already told you in another forum, you just have to use the lower hole of the heatsink. That's it. Problem solved. Simple as that and no error on behalf of Twisted Pear (as some misguided guys at that other forum seem to believe). It doesn't matter that only half of the transistor's back touches the heatsink this way. The end result is the same. I've been using my placids this way for ages (set at 350mA) and they work just fine. You'll see for yourself that the heatsinks have no issue warming up just fine (and boy, do they warm up!). I assume they shut off if they get too hot? If you find that happens then you could drill a new hole as glt suggests. I was a little wary myself but if Brian says not to worry - that's good enough for me.
